I find it very difficult and annoying to force myself to be happy when I'm not actually happy. If I am mad or sad, I should have the right to take my madness/sadness wherever I go. Unfortunately, I can’t. If I wake up and have an extremely bad morning, which subsequently puts me in an extremely bad mood, I cannot go to work wallowing in my own funk. It doesn’t matter how down and out I feel, I have to pretend that I am happy. It’s the same as if you are in a more casual setting with family or friends. If you are feeling down and you find your self in a social arena, you have to put on a happy face just to please the people in your company. That is so annoying.
Humans are emotional beings and I find it quite unfair that in certain settings we are not allowed to display our nature-given emotions. It is natural for us to be sad or mad, or to feel as if we need to scream or cry. Telling a human that she cannot display her natural emotions is just evil. We can’t help but feel the way that we do so why try to put a tax on our feelings?
This brings me to another important point. Crying is a good thing. I can’t stand people who think that it is wrong for a person to cry. Tears are a form of release. Often times, they make an emotionally unstable person feel a lot better about what ever has them feeling emotionally unstable. And if you ever find yourself in the position of being “the shoulder to cry on”, do not try to stop the tears of the person who is crying. Obviously that person is crying for a reason so let them cry and do your job. Provide the shoulder and maybe some nice words of comfort but don’t stop the cry-ee from crying. Capiche?

A human being's emotional state is a constantly changing mechanism. One moment we can be happy and in the blink of an eye we might suddenly turn mad. It’s all in the course of nature. One of the hardest things to do is to control one’s emotions. Some people have it down to a science while others… don’t. Even those who are perfect emotion controllers need moments where they can let loose and scream for joy at random or shed a tear over a broken handbag strap. So, when I’m mad, let me growl. When I am sad, let me cry. When I am happy, let me smile and when I am scared let me tremble. Don’t judge me because I am up, down, and all around the emotional spectrum. It's only natural. How can anyone expect a person to go completely against their natural composition just for the comfort of society? It's just not fair.
