I'm not to blame for the pain that was caused by previous cats…

Musiq, you might be right. But you are still wrong.

The pain may have been caused by previous cats but what you are feeling in that song was probably caused by you.


I was listening to Musiq’s Previous Cats a little while ago and I laughed because I find it VERY funny that Musiq had the audacity to make that song…especially when he may not be the blame for what some other dude did, but he definitely is the blame for all the mess that he has done.

*Men, go ahead, get ready to attack me* Unfortunately, a lot of men are dishonest. A lot of times, you can't trust them any farther than you can see them.  Even those who have ‘matured’ and are ready to be ‘honest, upstanding men’ are far from worthy of trust. You know what they say, once a liar, always a liar…once a user, always a user…once a che…well you get the picture.

My issue with a man asking not to be blamed for the pain that was caused by previous cats is that there is a little something called karma that is always sure to bite you in the ass when you least expect it. Here you are, all grown up, done being a heartbreaker, womanizer, and all-around dog, when you find this wonderful woman that you want to love and cherish forever and ever amen. Only problem is that she is love-blocking—she is carrying baggage full of hurt and pain from previous cats that is hindering her ability to accept your love. Try as you may to make her think otherwise, all she can do is think of the pain that she felt in other relationships and her fear of the pain that you will bring her way. It makes you frustrated because you know that you are not going to do her wrong and all you want is to be the man she deserves. But she won’t let you. Her baggage is in the way.

Fellas as soon as you feel the frustration coming on, why don’t you think back to all the women you hurt; all the women you did wrong (or will do wrong-- karma works in mysterious ways) and left with life-long pain. Think about all the women you could have been honest to but instead choose to ‘play’ just for the heck of it. Think of all the women you cheated on, mislead, and took for granted. Think about all those things and remember that those women may be getting their revenge through your current relationship. You have reached the point where you want and are wiling to give love but can’t because of what you believe is the work of another man. Well, perhaps it's not the previous cat who deserves the blame...maybe it's you…
