If I didn’t know any better I would think that 2012 has come and we are all going to die. Between earthquakes and snow from our snowiest winter ever still being on the ground alongside this season’s tulips, I am not too sure about my future here on this planet. I mean geez, and then I find out that compared to the $42, 600 net worth of white women, I am worth a measly $5?!? Well golly gee, just blow me down!
I am not sure I can take too much more of this insanity. Being black and female sucks right about now. I am so happy that despite the stats, I am not single, I am worth more than $5, I don’t have herpes, I am not overweight (wait, yes I am :)*, and I am smarter than your average 5th grader. Seems like I am the only black chicka that can attest to such things---well that’s if you believe all these outrageous stories that the media is promoting about black women. Please don’t fall for the hype (cue: Public Enemy "Don't believe the hype...don't, don't, don't believe the hype")…
By the way, since I started this blog, it seems like all I have been doing is coming to the defense of black people (specifically black women). Trust me, this was not the intent of my blog, it just so happens that since December (my blog debuted in January) the media has been on serious attack-mode against black people. I swear, President Obama and that dang Soledad O’Brien with her Black in America is the cause of all this foolishness…. Give a minority a yard and for sure she will be pushed back a mile….
*I've been "overweight" since my sophomore year in high school and I was 5'2 wearing a size 5-7. Go figure
