Lauryn Is Still That Girl...

...however, something has gone awry. Today's Ms. Hill is not the woman we remember. She is not the person we want her to be and probably never will be again. Today's Lauryn Hill is not the girl from Sister Act, she is not 1/3 of the Fugees trio and she is (definitely) not the woman that released The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill back in 1998. Her time has passed. It's over.



I think certain people (including me) have been yearning for the old Lauryn with such intensity that the new Lauryn has felt the need to come forth impersonating the woman she once was. Her impersonation-for a lack of better words- sucks. It's not working. We need to let her go. Leave her in peace.

Aside from the dry raspiness of her voice, Ms. Hill's perpetual lateness to her shows is a clear indication that her heart isn't where we want it. The 1990s Lauryn is gone.

If we die-hard Lauryn Hill fans release our 'need' for a Ms. Hill comeback, maybe she will stop trying to be the woman that she was over a decade ago. Something's got to give...
