Happy MLK Day! Today is a special day for us to remember and honor one of America's greatest Civil Rights leaders, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In addition to Dr. King, there are many African American freedom fighters, Civil Rights leaders, revolutionaries, government officials, family members and friends whose life mission was to uplift and promote the social progression of downtrodden people the world over.

On this wonderful holiday, let's not forget that Dr. King's works are not his alone; his works are a conglomerate of the past, present and future work done by the likes of Huey P. Newton, Ella Baker, Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey, Angela Davis, Dorothy Height, Tupac Shakur, President Barack Obama, Sonia Sanchez, Dr. Malachi York, Minister Louis Farrakhan, Assata Shakur and many others. Today has been reserved for the life and legacy of Dr. King; however, the best way we can salute Dr. King is to remember not only his but the work of others who fought the good fight for us all. Take a moment to show respect.

Peace.
