B.E.T., let's be clear. I do not like you. There may be nothing you
can do, save being black owned again, that will reverse my dislike
of you. So don't get your hopes up when I say what I'm about to say. Just remember, I do not like you.
Last night's season premiere of The Game was pretty good and better than I expected. Honestly, I was excited that The Game was coming back for a fourth season but I was skeptical about it coming to B.E.T. Now that the season premeire has aired, I can breathe a breath of fresh air. It was NOT a failure.
Derwin, Melanie, Tasha, Malik, Jason and Kelly are still the same, except for some weird and excessive character alterations. In my 'hood we call Tasha's overly ghetto self, Malik's overly misogynistic and womanizing ways and Jason's extreme a-holeism, 'extra'. Everything about each character was so 'extra' that it almost unbearable.
B.E.T. has been playing reruns of previous The Game seasons so much that we have become quite comfortable with the characters. When the show returned, we were looking for the same characters, played with the same intensity as before. What we got instead was a lot of 'extra-ness' that I could have done without. For instance, we know Tasha is ghetto, but did B.E.T. have to have her walking down the street smoking a black and mild?! In addition, we know that Kelly is trashy but does she have to be a typical ex-wife gold digger and let Brit Brat dress like trash too? (Oh, and by the way Brit Brat sure did age in 2 years, didn't she? I'm just saying). And Malik— I don't even know what to say about him. They took his character to new heights. Even Jason—after watching last night's show, asshole has truly gained a new meaning.
I have purposefully neglected to comment on Melanie and Derwin, as the verdict is still out on what is going on up in their household. Melanie sneaking DNA tests? Postponing her residency to be a 'supportive wife'? Derwin suddenly the face of Nike and the Saber superstar despite his bum knee from last season? I'm confused. Until I figure all of that out, I will not comment.
In general, the show was nice; I can't really hate on the final product. I think my dislike of the overly displayed personalities of each character will to disappear as the season progresses. Also, the show that came on after The Game, Let's Stay Together, was pretty good as well. I mean, B.E.T.'s television programming pretty much sucks, so in comparison to past production, last night's premieres were a pleasant surprise.

S.N.—Is it just me or does The Game seem like scripted reality television? And if so, does this mean that reality television shows are just unscripted sitcoms? Hmmmm…

I really didnt like how Malik was portrayed! But hey, we know who owns B.E.T.
Right, they made Malik out to be selfish. I mean, he was always like that but at least before he seemed to have a little heart.
Well I thought it was good television for what it was worth. However, the recent lip is about why black families have to always be portrayed with baby momma drama, cheatin wives and black men with the white ex-wives? It would seem to the Caucian eye that we always seem to have some type of unrest within the household. Maybe even that black women have problems holding on to our men, our better yet the African American cougar doesn't know what she really wants. Neither is which is always the case but simply what sells. Afterall would you really watch the AA family that is financially stable, married for 20 year and living life like its golden. Check out "My wife and kids," how long did it last? Im just saying.
