2011 is almost here and I am so ready for this new year! It's been a long 2010, and I think we all need to renew. Before 2011, take some time to release the hardships and difficulties of 2010 so that you may enter the new year with a clear and open mind. Resolutions are difficult things to maintain throughout the year so it may be best for some to just forget the idea of making "New Year's Resolutions". Try embarking upon 2011 with openness and freedom rather than restricting yourself to 'resolutions' that you may or may not live up to.
Let 2011 be a year of freedom and acceptance. What will be, will be. Be the best you can be in the best way you can be. This life is short and will be over before you know it. Take time to breathe, appreciate and accept. Leave 2010 right here- IN 2010. Don't bring past confusion into your new open space.
There's a really nice site, diaryofahappyblackwoman.com that I stumbled across a few days ago. I found today's post to be pretty useful. If you are finding it hard to release the events, hardships, and not-so-happy memories of years past, burn them (literally). Check out the post below. When you are done, come back here and leave a comment about how you plan to enter this new year of renewal, freedom and acceptance. Happy burning!
Today's exercise consists of three parts, and they are all equally important to the process of letting go of negative events and experiences from the past.
Step 1: Acknowledgement
Go grab your reset notebook and write down all the things that you're still holding onto from the past year (or even the past 30 years!). The timeframe is up to you. Your list should include bad experiences, failed relationships, arguments with friends and family, people who hurt you, situations you regret, jobs you got fired from, etc. If you want to go back more than a year, you can also include situations from your childhood, people you still have hold grudges against from high school, etc.
Step 2: Affirmation
