Dear Ms. Badu: You get 'em everytime

If you have not yet purchased the new Badu album, New Amerykah Pt. 2: The Return of the Ankh, I suggest you go do so---ASAP!

I absolutely love the new album and the interesting new video for the single 'Window Seat'. Unlike many others, I get what Ms. Badu is doing, I overstand what she is saying, and I appreciate her fearless honesty. For all those who have a problem with Ms. Badu's sudden nakedness in the 'Window Seat' video or the esoteric and eccentric manner in which she writes and sings her lyrics, please go sit down somewhere (far away from me). Unlike your Beyonces and the like, Ms. Badu bared it all and gave her soul for a reason. Her lyrics have meaning. Her videos have purpose.

Erykah Badu is a creative soul creatively creating creations. Her music is pure genius, especially since a lot of people don't even get it. I guess you have to be a nose stud wearing, loc swinging, ankh toting vegetarian/vegan to get her drift (na, I'm just kidding).
But seriously, there are many who listen to her music thinking "What the...???" while nodding and smiling pleasantly to the beat. I guess for some it's just too deep.

Nevertheless, I am so glad that New Amerykah 2 is out. It will surely be in consistent rotation for at least the next 10-12 years---or more (think: Baduism)  :)

In case you were one who completely could not overstand the 'Window Seat' video, think about this----

In a world where you are like her, she is like you, he is like her and she is like him, its nice to see someone jump out of the box and assert who they really are. Badu spends this entire video running and shedding layers of clothing. What/who is she running from? Why is she removing her clothing?

Ms. Badu is running from you. And as she runs, she is leaving behind the pieces of you that are attached to her. At the moment that you are no longer apart of her (when she is naked), you kill her.  But I believe that, in some way, she dies a proud and honest woman. She passed on as Badu..... not you.

Check out the new album...I like it. If you are a Badu fan, you will like it too.
